As the next phase of The ISIS Project, The Balm In Gilead has developed a cervical
cancer awareness campaign called Spread the Word Save A Sister The
campaign is supported by media and free educational sessions within each
of the following
cities: Washington, DC, Miami, Houston, Montgomery, Oakland, Chicago, Greensboro,
St. Louis, Greenville and Pittsburgh.
As part of the Spread the Word Save A Sister campaign, the
Balm In Gilead has partnered with Black female clinicians in each city. Black
female clinicians
will act as spokespersons for the campaign and act as medical experts for the
larger community and the media answering questions about the latest in cervical
cancer science. Stay tuned to your local print, radio and TV for more information
about the ISIS Project in your city!
A key part of the Spread the Word Save A Sister campaign
is education. The Balm In Gilead has trained local women in the community to
become Cervical
Cancer Peer Educators. Our Peer Educators will be holding educational sessions
that are free and open to the public.
The educational sessions will:
Provide information on HPV and cervical cancer
Address the prevention of cervical cancer and HPV with Pap test, HPV test
and the HPV vaccine

role play talking to a doctor
